Core teamThe people behind the dot
A small core team runs the community as volunteers. There are no paid staff and no membership fees. The team is expanding, and helping to run it is an open invitation.
Dr Burak Satar
Research Scientist, Singapore Management University. Works on video understanding and vision-language models, with a focus on how well those models handle cultural context. PhD from Nanyang Technological University on video retrieval. Co-founded The Turquoise Dot and opened the first deep dive with the community's plans for 2026.
Dr Ertem Esiner
Research Lead, Illinois ARCS. Adjunct Assistant Professor, Singapore University of Technology and Design. Works on cybersecurity for critical infrastructure. Co-founded The Turquoise Dot, hosted the second deep dive at Illinois ARCS in CREATE Tower, and gave the main talk on where academic security research meets operational reality.
Pinar Bilgin Lim
Chief Technology Officer, My Audit Companion. Builds audit and compliance software. Brings the founder and operator perspective to the core team, and the industry half of the community's reach in Singapore.
